Strikethrough update and information on my cyber whereabouts

I'm delighted to report that all four of the LJs that I mentioned as being suspended in my previous post have been reinstated. And LiveJournal continues to take steps to clean up its mess. This will be my last foreseeable update on the situation; those of you who want to follow further news can check the Strikethrough comm innocence_jihad.

One fact that became quite clear to me during the past few days was that darkfic LJs were much more likely to remain suspended wrongfully by LiveJournal than non-darkfic LJs. I think there are a couple of reasons for this. Some darkfic LJ maintainers were rather gleeful in listing the types of punishment their authors inflicted upon their characters, not realizing how their words might be misinterpreted by someone not familiar with the genre. And, of course, darkfic LJs were most likely to be suspended in the first place because of the taboo nature of the subject matter they sometimes deal with.

Overall, though, I think that this is a lesson that darkfic is, and always has been, a particularly risky genre to write in. My congratulations to the maintainers of the suspended LJs who have not flinched in continuing to produce writings, despite this setback.

And finally, so you'll never have to ask, "Where's Dusk?" (I've also added this to the links section of this community LJ.)

I am very glad they've all been reinstated! I was particularly angered by lynntownsend's suspension -- she really should have been ahead of pornish_pixies in the queue.
